Meridiano Seguros continues to back sport as sponsor of the Alicante Half Marathon

Meridiano Seguros continues as the main sponsor of the MERIDIANO INTERNATIONAL ALICANTE HALF MARATHON & AGUAS DE ALICANTE 10 K, which in its 29th edition has broken the entry record with 5,200 runners. Based in Alicante, the insurance company lends its name to this popular race for the second consecutive year, reaffirming its commitment to sport, health, wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle, key pillars of its current strategic plan in line with the SDGs.

The Alicante Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, 16 February, starting at 9:30 a.m. from Muelle 12, Port of Alicante, on 21,970-metre and 10,000-metre courses (for the 10K), both certified by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.

The official presentation of this major sporting event was held yesterday at the Aguas de Alicante Museum, attended by Luis Barcala, Mayor of Alicante; Toni Gallego, Alicante City Council Sports Councillor; Sergio Sánchez, Managing Director of Aguas de Alicante; Sonia Latorre, Managing Director of Meridiano Seguros; and José Pedro García Fernández, President of Club Atlético Montemar.

“Last year we sponsored the Alicante Half Marathon and, after such a positive experience, we decided to do it again this year. For us, this sponsorship is one of the most important initiatives in the city, an action that strengthens our commitment to sport, health, wellbeing, healthy living and also sustainability, another of the key pillars of our current strategy aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Sonia Latorre, Managing Director of Meridiano Seguros.

The 29th MERIDIANO INTERNATIONAL ALICANTE HALF MARATHON & AGUAS DE ALICANTE 10K is jointly organised by Club Atlético Montemar and the Alicante City Council Sports Department, with sponsorship from Aguas de Alicante and Meridiano Seguros.

“At Meridiano, we see this sponsorship not only as a way to promote an active, healthy lifestyle, but also as a way to thank and reaffirm our commitment to Alicante, a city with which we have deep ties through the development of ASV Group, to which Meridiano belongs,” added Sonia Latorre.

Currently, 40% of participants come from 43 countries, supported by over 200 volunteers helping ensure the race runs smoothly. More than 20 “Hogueras” commissions will cheer on runners along the course, with live music at the finish line and in the Desembarco del Corredor area to keep the atmosphere lively throughout the day.

Bib and race pack collection will take place at the Desembarco del Corredor (Muelle 12) on 14 February from 17:00 to 20:00, and on 15 February from 10:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 20:00.
