“Mum, Dad – shall we look after the planet?”: a family guide to sustainability

An initiative by Meridiano Seguros to help families adopt eco-friendly habits at home. This new publication is launched for Earth Day, held on 22 April, and, with every download, a real environmental project will be supported.

“Mum, Dad, shall we look after the planet?” is the title of Meridiano Seguros’ new guide, published for Earth Day, held today, 22 April. Its aim is to promote sustainability in family life by helping households incorporate eco-friendly habits simply and effectively into their daily routines.

“We live in a world where every small action counts. From what we consume to how we dispose of things, so our daily choices have a direct impact on the planet. Raising awareness of this in every home is what we are aiming for with this initiative,” explains Sonia Carricondo, Head of Communication and ESG at ASV Group, to which Meridiano Seguros belongs.

“Mum, Dad – shall we look after the planet?” is a practical guide, available free to download. Its pages include useful information, practical tips and activities designed to involve all families in caring for the planet in one way or another.

Benefits of practising sustainability as a family

Beyond the obvious environmental benefits of sustainable habits at home, the guide highlights additional advantages: improved emotional wellbeing, stronger family bonds and cost savings, among others.

It proposes games and specific activities to connect with the environment and be more sustainable as a family. It also provides craft ideas using recycled materials to play with younger children while raising awareness about the importance of looking after our planet together.

The initiative is supported by a dedicated landing page and a social and digital campaign, including short how-to videos on instructive and fun topics such as “How to live sustainably without spending more” and “How to create a mini vegetable garden at home.”

In addition, each download will support a real environmental project, thanks to the collaboration with Asociación Almijara. And you will enter a draw for two mini-garden kits – one designed for younger children and another ideal for the whole family. A fun way to sow ecological awareness at home.

Meridiano Guides: tools for families

Recent titles include: “Mum, Dad, I want to play!”, on the importance of play for child development, “Mum, Dad, shall we talk?”, on how language influences children’s emotional wellbeing, “Mum, Dad, can I use a mobile? Can I go online?”, promoting safe use of technology in childhood and adolescence, among many other titles.

All guides are available to read and download free of charge at https://www.segurosmeridiano.com/guias.

“This open-access collection is our way of giving families practical tools on key issues that parents worry about. From technology use and healthy eating to language, and bullying prevention… In doing so, we reinforce one of our strategic pillars: emotional wellbeing and mental health, inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),” concludes Sonia Carricondo.
